Firstly, every financial institution operates its own internal scorecards which are confidential and differ wildly between lenders.
Secondly, you may be an attractive customer to one company by paying off in full every month, but you will be less attractive to another.
Yes, it's all speculation (at least mine is) - but if you think about it, would you give more credit to someone who never pays a sub £250 balance in full? It would certainly look to me as they are struggling to budget even this amount.
Just see what you think I can afford to pay off monthly if I spend and pay off £300 for a year each month, then I need three months to pay off £1500.
Vanquis reportedly keeps increasing their limit to scary amounts (compared to the APR), so if they don't you're probably not using it right.
I have pretty limited credit history, but when I first got my mainstream cards, they were about 10% of my annual income. It would seem to me that until you are below this limit, the companies are not trusting you and/or not satisfied with your repayment history. You have to show them how much you are willing to repay regularly.Enjoy the silence...0 -
