Student in need of money - Need idea's !!

Ive finished my year one at my uni and need a job of some kind. There not really any jobs in my city of Dundee. Ive applyed for some, but theres like 4-5 other people going for them too, however not giving up hope. However I really do need some money quick. Ive started selling old books etc online and made 30pound on my first day, but I really need a job.
Are there any jobs that I can work from home ? I'm on the computer all the time (mostly trying to make money, surverys etc..) and I saw teletechs, but I didn't like the idea that it comes through your housephone , could it not go through your computer ?? Or have I got that wrong? Sounded like a gd job that pays wells. Ive also tried 63336 jobs but they have nothing so far. (sorry if ive broken any rules !)
Anyone got any other jobs from working at home that I haven't tried ??
(sorry for spelling, im dyslexic !!)

Many years ago I was out of work and trying to think of a way to get cash, I read an article in the daily mirror about a doctor unable to find a house on a new estate because they were not numbered and legally a house should be numbered or named. So I cut the article out of the paper bought numbers and letters in Woolworth's and went around knocking doors explaining I was offering a house numbering or house naming service and armed with the article from the mirror and it went very well I did this for about 6 weeks until I had a job.I was making about £25 a day and what I found there are quite a few older houses needed my service, I know it means you leaving your house but look around you will see many houses could still use this service because it's something they mean to do but never seem to get around to doing it. So providing you dont get to greedy it should help you out temporarily, and you will be providing a much needed service it could in fact save someones life. Good Luck

Can anyone let me know (by PM if necessary) what the wages are like for this? Been reading the original thread with interest, but work 4 days a week as a teacher and need to work out if it's worth 10 hours of my time... I know it's more than min. wage but just how good is the pay? Are people finding it a worthwhile job to be doing?
  • have a look at the gambling introductory loopholes threads.

you can start with around £200 and within a couple of days and placing your first bet, then your free bet you will at least £60 richer.

have a good look at the thread and if you are unsure about any think just ask a question or PM someone.

Party plan? Lots of different ones out there to choose from - good fun, choose your own hours and extra earnings to be made, (some people build a business and make a lot of extra money :) ) You do have to work at it like anything else but it's great fun while you do if this appeals to you :) I love it! I love the flexibility and the extra treats I can afford for my family :) I also work full time but am in a position where I have to re-apply for my own job and go through interview for it every year :( I love my job - it's fab! But the situation regarding going through the whole process every year is starting to feel a little demoralising quite frankly :( With my party plan business I make my own choices and decide for myself what I want to do and that for me is a lovely feeling :)
Good luck in whatever you find and choose to do :)

  • Hi there,
I would sign up with loads of job agencies, including temporary work as they have vacancies which never make it to the jobcentre or newspaper. Also there is care work which means working with the elderly/disabled/learning disabilities, often in their own homes so it helps if you have transport or are given a lot of work in a small area. You could take on a small amount at first to see how you get on with it (care agencies are often really stuck for people in the evening or weekends).
It can be really rewarding as it tends to take your mind off your own (maybe debt related) problems. Often the clients you work with are pleasant and glad of some help with simple things such as preparing meals, getting dressed, going food shopping, taking medication at the right times etc You will be asked to agree to a CRB check which you may have to pay for - but the care company can agree to take it out of your wages on a monthly basis which is what happened to me.
Think of it as a short term solution to money probs if the idea doesn't totally appeal.
Not all care companies are created equal so check they are not sending you from one end of the city and back again in a short space of time and check travel allowances which they should be paying. If you haven't done it before they should offer some sort of training, even if only shadowing another worker.
It can be very worthwhile as you will make a big difference to people's lives.
    Good Luck!
