This is a vent, and probably a warning as well...
Pre reading info. My HTC charge comes in 3 bits. A USB Cable, a plug "bit", and a middle bit to attatch them together.
April 7th - My Charger broke. Specifically the earth rod on the plug snapped off, and I also noticed that the usb cable had wires coming out of it. So i contacted HTC as I am within my 6 month accessories warrenty. They inform me they will send me a new charger.
April 21st - Having not yet received my new charger, I contact them again. It should be with you soon.
April 23rd - Receive a replacement middle bit. the only bit of my charger that wasn`t broken.
April 25th - Contact HTC. Assured that they will send out teh replacement parts as soon as possible.
May 3rd - Contact HTC as parts not received. Ticket is escalated and I am promised a call back that afternoon between 2-4.
May 4th - receive call back from HTC a day late.... They explain to me that it takes up to 10 days from when the parts are orders to arrive. I ask if they have been ordered yet. No is the answer. He assures me he has escalated the request again.
May 7th - An envelope from HTC!!!! Containing a cable!!!! And a plug!!! Hooray! Finally! I have a char...wait..whats this... the plug doesn`t attach to the middle bit. they've sent me the wrong f**king part!!! ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!
May 9th - Contact HTC again. Am promised a call back the next day
May 13th - Call HTC again. Asking what is going on. Operator doesn`t know. Sends an escalation e-mail (again). Awaiting call back again.
My Rant
My advice: If your charger breaks, order one off e-bay...

My Rant
- How can it take a month and a half to get a new charger (which I don`t have as yet)
- The frontline staff at HTC seem very nice, but all they can ever do is escalate. They can`t put me through to talk to anyone.
- The escalation staff never call back when they promise to
- Why does it take 10 days to order a part when I can order one on here >>>>: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=208270
For next day delivery, if I am willing to pay £15:99
My advice: If your charger breaks, order one off e-bay...

Sorry but you need to learn to look after things. You have had it less then 6 months and you have broke it. I have had mine over 12 months and there is nothing wrong with it.0

Yeah because it couldn`t be a fault in the manufacturing could it???
And irrespective of how I have or have not looked after it, the 6 month Warrenty is there, and if required HTC should discharge their obligations in full, and in a way that doesn`t leave me having to borrow other peoples chargers for nearly 6 weeks.0 -
why on earth did you not just buy one off amazon for a quid? Not official HTC but better!
You could have had one within 24 hours0 -
I got an official one from Amazon for £7 delivered in a couple of days does my sons blackberry too.Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

Actually, warranty doesn't include misuse, though they would find it hard to prove, you have a responsibility to use it correctly, which your comment indicates you might not have?
Agree it's poor service but chargers are so cheap - I have them spread across home, work & car because the HTC battery life is pretty poor. Any micro usb charger should work?0 -
Sorry if I am wrong, but I thought HTC uses micro USB for charging, transfer, etc? I have plenty of those around (from 2 Samsungs and they use the same) and just plug them into work computer USB, in car 12V usb, etc to charge mine. You do not need the "middle bit" or the "end bit", just a standard USB to micro USB cable. Like johnnyboyrebel said, they cost £1 off amazon, ebay, etc, grab a handfull and plug them everywhere there is an USB port and you can topup your phone anytime. You do not even need the wallbrick (I never really use mine anyway).
A flipSYNC keychain charger maybe handy for you too.0 -
Aside from the other comments, I have to agree with the OP the HTC service is AWFUL - you really do have to experience it for yourself - my phone failed, 21 days to 'repair' it it came back on Virgin Media when it went in on o2 and it had more wrong with it when i got it back than when it went in!!!0

And this is how I am currently charging my phone, however it is
a) inconvinient
b) only a trickle charge, and thus takes around 3 hrs for a full charge. Not ideal.0 -
Anyway an update.
They sent me a charger!! Hooray!!!
It has a European plug fitting!!! Booo!!!!
It also has a mini USB connector rather than a micro USB connector!!! Boooo!!!
Stunning levels of incompetance.0
