hi everyone
tomorrow i am sorting out my front garden
I have a builders mate comiing to help but am getting confused about my calculations
The area is 3.30 x 4.40m. I have railway sleepers to edge it & want to put a strong base with gravel over the top so i can use it for additional parking.
So i think i have worked out i have an area of 14.5sqm.
So how much base material do i need to order & how much gravel. I'm hoping to get it all delivered tomorrow
I've been priced:
£28.40 per tonne for crushed concrete.
£34.15 per tonne for gravel.
delivered as i can only get 1.5 tonne on my truck

3 tonne for 100mm sub base or 4 tonne for 150mm.
What size gravel are you using? Need to know that for coverage.0 -

1 bulk bag should give you enough coverage to roughly 40mm depth.0

I'd be interested to know where you got the quote for the gravel please (hope you don't mind me asking). I posted in the garden forum about cheap gravel for a driveway and part of a patio. The lowest price I found on the net was over £80 a tonne and far too expensive as we need rather a lot.. Someone on there (sorry can't remember who) said to phone a local quarry. I'm going to try tomorrow0

Thanks for the reply, we live near the borders of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
I did try googling but couldn't find anything that cheap.0 -

I guess it depends whet type you want. Basic grey will be less decorative chipping more.
I have used gold coast 20mm from a local (to me) bulk supplier. looks beetr than basic but not top end.
Even top up bags are only 30% of "high street" prices."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
