One other question. He's asked that we drill all the holes into the stone walls for the cabelling to go through (he'll do the stud walls) - is that normally the electrician's responsibility or the project manager/builder?

    Thanks

    I

You have a right cracker ther lol. He is over charging.

And if the walls are anything like our house 2ft+ thick they are a pain to drill.

i am in scotland full rewire was 1800+vat inc smoke alarms couple years ago.(just looked up what we paid). That was a 3 bed + and adjoining shop and store. House was from 1800's so rubble walls 2ft+ thick.

All i had to do was give the guy access. No tea making facilties supplied. And if he had asked me to drill some walls i would have told exactly were to shove the drill.

Our quotes were from 1800 to around about 4k(i think)

When we had our 4 bed rewired all of the quotes were in a similar ballpark to yours - I went to the niceic website and called a load of electricians listed on there for quotes. We were also asked to dig our own trench across the garden to supply the garage and they didn't include making good all of the chasing.

    What 7.5k + MATERIALS???

You will get high quotes but you can get low and just as good workmanship.
