Problems with eon!!!

Hi, really hope someone can offer some advice.

Erly last month we received a letter from eon demanding full payment as we had fallen behind (one month missed) with payments as my wife had been unwell, loss of earnings etc etc.
I called to set up a direct debit, was told i would have to pay around £200 upfront before a direct debit would be set up, i explained this was not possible, and that i wanted to clear the bill, i just needed a little help and time. The woman i spoke to said it was pay that amount or it would be passed on and a warrant to fit a pre payment meter to be fitted. The conversation was ended and i called back hoping to get someone else, i did, a great guy who seemed to understand and said if i paid £125 of the £400 bill by 10th June (when the next bill is done) they would then set up a direct debit, i made a note of call times etc and went away feeling relieved.

My wife has just called me from home in a total panic, an agent from Utility Management Services has just visited the house and put a letter through the door saying they are going to court to get a warrant.

I plan on calling eon when i am home later but thought i would ask if anyone had any advice?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi tizardcr,

I am sorry about the service you have received, there appears to be some sort of misunderstanding somewhere.

I must say though, for an account to passed to the warrant stage and also being asked to pay half the balance before a Direct Debit could be set up, there must have been more than 1 missed payment.

Going to court for a warrant to fit a pre-payment meter is the very last stage.

Has there been an outstanding balance for some time?

Has the Direct Debit failed in the past?

I do suggest contacting us again as the second person you spoke to did agree to arrangement and they obviously have not set this up for you, there should be some notes to say what was agreed when you called.

Let me know if you need any more info and I do hope you get this sorted.

    Helena :)
