Had a credit card for 10 years+, close it?

Hi
I've had a particular credit card for 10 years+. In the same time I've had a few others which I've moved the balance around on. My credit history should be pretty good.
Is there any benefit to keeping that card open? It doesn't have any benefits and I think having it open just makes it more likely for me to be refused other credit cards, i.e. a company might think I have too many. Is it a good thing for my credit record to keep it open or does it not matter?
I've used it at least 1 a month for amazon and the such like and it's paid off every month.

thanks

It can show stability if you keep it. Are there others you're not using that you could close? Do you have a large number open?

I had 3 open, just closed one and will soon open another. I've only got about £400 on them.

That's the question really, it shows stability. Does anyone look for this? Is it part of credit scoring?

In a lot of cases, yes. But once you've got good history under your belt, ie several years of no missed payments, and a stable address (ie not moving about a lot, I don't mean living like a horse) etc then it probably doesn't count for too much. Having 3 credit cards isn't a lot. Try to keep your limits to under around 50% of salary, and you probably won't have a problem.
