Do check out the turn to us link provided a couple of times. You should be entitled to Income Support and your partner certainly should be claiming something, whether it's JSA or Income Support. You say you are living with him, is that in a rented property? If so then Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit should also be an option.

Don't expect any responses from your creditors about writing off your debt. I filled out a CAB mental health debt form and even though I had that third part involvement many of my creditors didn't bother to reply. They are even less likely to do so if the debtor writes direct, we're easier to ignore!

If you have stopped paying the IVA then the CAB should be able to help you after 3 missed payments when the IVA is deemed to have failed, I believe. So worth contacting them again when you are in that position.

Cause my maternity pay has stopped now we are getting our rent and council tax paid for thank goodness so we are just pay for our gas, electric, service charge and food for us 3 with that £58.00 a week.

I'm going to look into income support but I decided to write a letter to my boss and ask if I could maybe work from home instead at least I could still be earning and looking after my baby. Also my partner is also looking for work and is hope to get a job for a company so all will help. I don't really want to be in this situation and would love to be able to earn my own money so let's hope my boss says yes but if not I will have to give my job up as I dont have a car to drive to Kent and back and there is no way I could afford child care costs.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has given me advice but I do think I will have to go bankrupt tho.

Hiya, when did you go to the CAB was this before the DMP & IVA? if so go back to them now, I know they have helped friends of mine in the passed.

also your partners JSA doesn't seem correct they can't expect 3 people to live of £58 per week JSA is £67.50 per week if over 22 years old. as long as he doesn't have savings over I think £16,000 which I assume is not the case.

look into this you could be entitled to more help

Hi the CAB was after DMP and IVA it was when I was on marternity and they said they could help.

The JSA my partner was getting is that contribution and would give him any money cause my £124.00 a week was enough for us to live on plus we was getting 58.00 child tax credit and child benefit a week too. But now my maternity has stopped we need to look into income support as I have been adviced. My partner is looking for work as we speak and his mate is trying to get him in with his company so if all goes well we would have to worry about the income support. Plus I dont know where that would leave me with the bankrupty? Cause if me boss says no to working for home I can't go back to my old job and want have any income of my own.

If your maternity pay has ended and you have no job to go back to then do you still have an entitlement to Child Tax Credit? I'm not sure how this works with regards to working so forgive me if you are still entitled.

Just thinking though, that if your income goes down by losing a benefit, then your partner should be able to get more on his JSA.

I thought JSA was a standard rate anyway and not subject to other benefits income or partner working, only savings. Certainly £58 doesn't appear in the rates listed on the DirectGov website.

If you have been working you should be able to claim contributory-based JSA for 6 months, if you can't go back to work.

Incidentally, if you did go back to work you would get 70% of your childcare costs paid under child care tax credits.

My paid maternity is finished with but I told my boss I am taking 12 months off so I am having 3 months of no pay so I should still be in titled to child tax credit at the moment. But if my boss says no to working for home then I would have to let them no that I have no income coming in.

Regards to my partners JSA he was getting the contribution JSA but we never got any money just his stamp and national insurance paid for.

We get £20 child benefit a week and £38.00 child tax credit a week but as my maternity pay has finished I will have to find out if that changes at all. But they might say cause I am still on unpaid marternity that I have to wait till that finishes I don't know.

The Government has amounts that are set for what a certain category of person needs to live on, young people, over 25s, single, couples, disabled etc. If your income has dropped then you chould be entitled to more money if you are now below the amounts set for your situation, hence the recommendations to apply for income support and your partner to have his JSA reassessed.
