Robinson Way harassment
I was wondering if anybody could offer some advise on Robinson Way? I received a letter a few months ago saying that a owed £6.5k from way back in 1999. I have no knowledge of this dept and the address that they claimed I gave for the loan was not a placed I lived until 2005!
After a bit of research I downloaded and sent a letter detailing the "Statued Barred" law as the dept was over 6 years old, and that I had no knowledge of the loan. This was ignored and I receive 2 or 3 calls a day from them anytime from 8am to 8pm, where I just refuse to answer their "security" questions.
They cant give me any proof of the loan, and there is nothing on my credit report.
Help! What more can a do as I am losing sleep because of this?
Any help or advise would be very appreciated.

There is a letter you can send that asks for your phone numbers to be taken off their database under the data protection act.
And/or you could report them to the OFT.

Tell them on the next call they are breaking the law and that if they call again you will report them to the police for harrassment and ask your phone provider to block their number!
Good luck

My only concern is that they will do what Mackenzie Hall did last year and stick outstanding debt searches on my credit report, granted they removed them all when I sent an email telling them I had no debts as everything was paid in about 2003 and I had the letters of payment. As this is an address of a flat I rented in September 1997 - January 1998 and have the documentation of bank statements and confirmation from the Council that I have been at my current address since 1998 should I have not heard from these people sooner if indeed there was anything outstanding on my old flat address. Surely there would be this alleged debt that they must think there is on my credit report. How soon would I recieve anymore correspondance from them as this is worrying me now, that I will have to go through the performance of getting searches etc removed from my report like the Mackenzie Hall malarchy. Sorry if I seem paronoid, but I have worked hard at cleaning my act up in the last few years.

Personally I would ignore them until they can be bothered to write to you to tell you what debt they are chasing. But you could contact them if you wanted.

From what you have put this will probably not be your debt. If it is your debt then its likely that it would be statute barred.
- Would you not have heard anything sooner? possibly/possibly not, it might be MH have only just purchased your debt, it might be that some source of info they use has just identified a mr jolfc at your current address.
Surely there would be this alleged debt that they must think there is on my credit report.
They could easily be collecting a debt where there is no permission to report to the credit reference agencies and so the debt might never have appeared. Or even if it was a debt that could have appeared in the past once it is 6years after the default has been registered the debt/account would no longer show on a debtors credit report.

Typically they weill write again detailing what they want to contact you about in a month or so.

So I now have a letter with an account number and amount, am I best emailing them to tell them I do not owe them anything or ringing them? Any help much appreciated. They say in the letter that it is registered as an unpaid debt on my credit report, no it is not, there is nothing on my report as unpaid or owing to anyone.0

Do you recognise the account number at all?
If not I would reply with the 'prove it letter - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2
or you might want to consider the - 'not my debt and even if it was it would be statute barred' letter (which really needs a snappier name) - see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=34906257&postcount=5A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I had a raft of letters from Robinson Way several months ago. I ignored them for ages and ages and ages! Then I just got bored with receiving them all, and phoned to find out the problem.
It was a debt of ....£9, apparently owed to Swalec as a final bill from 2001 in my final university year. Unbe-!!!!ing-lievable. £9? It must have cost 'em more to chase me for that!
It was a total accident btw, I wouldn't just ignore a final bill of £9 if i'd have received it. I paid up then and there tbh, couldn't be doing with the hassle.0
