I think it is very likely that they are genuinely trying to link you to a policy they now 'own'. Timescales are not always met. This information below may help you remember previous policies. Taken from their site.
Abbey Life has been closed to new retail business since February 2000, although we continue to accept increments and increases on existing policies, and new members to some existing occupational pension schemes. We also issue annuities in respect of holders of our pension policies at their retirement dates.
In addition to our own directly written business, the in-force business of Abbey Life includes portfolios of business transferred from the following former life companies:
    • London and Edinburgh Life (which merged with Excess Life in 1978)
    • Excess Life (renamed Ambassador Life, which merged with Abbey Life in 1998)
    • Target Life (which merged with Hill Samuel Life in 1995)
    • Hill Samuel Life (which merged with Abbey Life in 1998
Often the policies were pension linked which could be from a small frozen co pension?

    Hope this helps

If they have nt been in touch this week suggest you call and get put through to a customer service department, don t get fobbed off, have your previous post code details and DOB and they should be abe to assist. If you are sending info in future always check out why and sent reg post so someone signs. I suspect you will have some money due to you in this case. Hope this helps
  • Thank you for the information, I'll call them again tomorrow and hopefully get some answers. If not I may drive to Bournemouth and pay them a visit!
