MOT Fail- Help

foci Posts: 1 Newbie
Hi everyone

Hope someone can give some advice.
Ive just moved to Nottingham and my 2000 reg Ford Focus has failed its MOT as the 'offside rear prake pipe is excessively corroded [3.6.B.2c]'
Thing is as im new to the area i dont know of any decent garages so was thinking of going to somewhere like Kwik Fit but im a bit wary after seeing some of the comments on here!!
Can anyone give a rough idea of how much i can expect to pay to get the brake pipe replaced or if anyones from the Nottingham area recommend a place to go where i can avoid being ripped off!!

thanks very much

Avoid all the chains, The staff come and go like yoyo's.

Find an old established garage who have had the same staff for many years.

My local garage is owned by one of the mechanics that worked there, Took over ownership
when the previous owner retired. Ask your neighbours.

Rear brake pipes can get pricey if the fuel tank needs removal.

Why not just ask the place that MOT'd it?

I would sgree with this assuming it is straightforward pipe replacement then it will be about 30 mins work. Doing the ends is time consuming bit.

Especially when you have to cut them off again to put the flare nut on :o
