replacing windscreen wipers

When replacing windscreen wipers, do u need to replace the whole plastic bit or do u just take out the rubber plastic bit and replace that?

Thanks

It is possible to just replace the rubber but is a real pain to do, but generally you just go and buy the wiper for your car. You can get the usual type or the flat blade type which a lot of vehicles come with as standard now.

Also, they usually come with some different attachments to fit different wiper arms.

You can still buy just the rubber blades from some car shops and they are often cut to size, but it's usually much easier, quicker and not too much more expensive to replace the whole blade with the plastic bit. You'll usually get new fittings too. If you're not happy doing it yourself, most kwik-fits or Halfords etc will fit free of charge

Edit - beat me to it Chris!

Please ignore my earlier sarky comment.

Makes mental note to not get distracted before posting. :-)

 great minds and all that!

Hi it looks like you need an 18 and 20 for the front, is it the actual connector that doesn't fit? you could try using the new blade with the old plastic part to connect to the arm? i ahev had to do that several times in the past

I actually bought the 24/18 set but the 18inch arm is too big.

Probably because the passenger side wiper is a 15".
