old iphone texts -> new iphone?

Hi,
I currently have the iphone 3GS. Have it backed up on itunes on my laptop. If I get a new iphone, will I be able to keep my old texts that I currently have on my phone? Are texts backed-up as well or will I lose all of it once I get a new phone?

Yes, your texts will be backed up and transferred to the new phone. When you connect your new phone, it will ask you if you want to restore from the backup of the 3GS.0
