in Techie Stuff
I have had a message saying my account has been compromised and to follow the simple instructions and it will be restored.
I have been trying for the last 3 hours and going round in circles.
When I try to change my password it gives a code to type in and then says it will said a verification code to an email address that is not mine.
There is no alternative address to send it to.
The drop down menu just has the same one.
I am really worried as I do alot of stuff on line.
Thanks very much.

It was your response to the message that allowed someone to hack your account, all you can do now is contact Microsoft and tell them what happened to get your account back.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

Yeah, it's sounds like you've been hacked:
go herehttps://account.live.com/resetpassword.aspx and see if you can follow the steps, however by allowing them to take over your account (if that's what happened), the first thing they would do is change the recovery information to lock you out.0 -
Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it.
I am just a novice really.

Go to the windows live account recovery page and follow the instructions.
Make sure the 'contact email' address is one you are still able to access as you will be emailed a link to the private security forum. Make sure you note down the special suport number that appears after you click the submit button, as you will need it and they do not include it in any of the emails that follow.
You will be asked to provide some information to prove it is your account (email addresses on your contacts list, any folders you have created, subject of any recent emails you have sent from that account etc..)
Provided the windows live support team are satisfied with the information, they will email you a link to reset your password and regain control of your account within a couple of days.0 -

I had a job remembering some of my folders and the recent emails but they were satisfied and I got the link this morning.
