Need a new radiator...how much will it cost to fit it?

Advice needed!! I want to replace a large double radiator in my kitchen with a new one, the old one being a bit grotty and showing signs of rust. What sort of price would a plumber charge for installing the radiator...just haven't got any idea how much these things cost, so would appreciate a rough estimate of what is a fair price for the job

You need to know the required output (in BTUs) - have a look on the B&Q website, they used to have a calculator that you could put the room size into and it'd tell you.
Then check the price for the radiator.

Probably £75-£100 to fit one from a friendly plumber? Depends on where you are / who you know.

Labour charge probably not much more for 2 or 3 at the same time (perhaps 35% on top for each extra?). :cool:

I'd second the above. Prob £50 (rough guess) for the rad and I wouldn't have thought much more than £100 on top to fit.

plus the obligatory mug of tea and a chokky biscuit

don't forget to keep the old rad and weigh it in for scrap:T

just had a couple done in my house, its was £85.00 per rad, but that included moving some pipework around aswell.

Match the radiator exactly - take a photo to the plumbers merchant - and it's a DIY job for someone handy.

Why bother, surely easier and cheaper to replace like with like (OP hasn't mentioned any need to change he size).

As asbokid says a quick DIY job (or local handyman), only down side will be the rusty water running out of the old one so OP needs to be ready for that.

The price would be different for doing the whole house than that of replacing a single radiator.

I only had two done. £85.00 each.

If you have one done any normal plumber/heating engineer would charge you more then less for additional.
