Freezer problem - help please!

We have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer (fridge on top, freezer on bottom). It has separate thermostats for the fridge and freezer. The freezer is meant to be frost-free, and it was for a few months over the summer, but recently it started to get a lot of ice build up inside and make funny noises. I had to defrost it twice in a month because we couldn't get the drawers open. It looked like it was snowing in there!
We thought it was because of the location, our kitchen gets very warm when the boiler & tumble dryer are on, and quite cold at night. I defrosted the freezer 2 weeks ago and we moved the fridge/freezer into the dining room instead, which is a pretty stable temperature. I thought it would be OK but on checking it today, the freezer is starting to ice up again. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? Thanks.

if its frost free, and your sure its frost fee I would get it checked out, make sure the element on the back is free of dust and make sure its not too close to the wall at the back. Failing that look up the name and model number and go to the manufacturers website or do a search via google by putting in your freezer make and number and then put the words problems with.

Thanks for the reply kat21. It is a "total no frost" fridge/freezer, model number ARC 7472. We only bought it in January this year so it is still within the guarantee (just). I searched Google Groups as you suggested but nothing came up.
We bought it from the Co-op online so I do not have a receipt or anything confirming the date of purchase. I forgot to send the registration card back to Whirlpool as wellAll I have is my credit card statement, would this be sufficient proof if I rang Whirlpool to ask for a service visit under the guarantee?

Obviously the registration card that you sent to Whirlpool got lost in the post:rolleyes:
You are still within you're warranty period so you should have no problems getting a service. If the number you have for Whirlpool is an 0870/0845 number try the national customer service 'real' number 0208 2479897,if they refer you to another 0870 number then go to http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php and check for 'real number'
You're credit card statement is all the proof you need of purchase.
BTW, the Co-op is the retailer, have you tried them first? 0161 4757935/6 and ask for customer service.

I would check to see that the door is closing fully and check the seal around the door.
The ice is usually from moist air that has got into the freezer.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
