Does she need a credit card

My partner has a fab credit file and has a few catalogues ect all with green ticks, never paid late.

In the future we will be looking to get a mortgage, should she get a credit card to help or as she has a few catalogues all reporting positive to the cra's would she be fine on the credit report front.

A credit card, used regularly and paid in full every month, is a great way of boosting a credit profile. After a years careful use she will have a strong credit report. But not knowing other details i couldnt say, if she decided to, which one to go for. Possibly her bank first?? Hth

As per the above reply, always pay in full to avoid any interest. Also make sure it is only used for purchases you would have made anyway, ie groceries, fuel etc. Don't allow it to be used for recurring payments as these can be a nightmare to cancel.

Thanks for the replies. I understand but should she get a credit card, would this make any difference on her credit file as she already has 3 credit products all shopping related.
