Looking for advice and help please

Hi,
Long story short-ish.....I am a cleaner and one of my customers is elderly (76 in 2 weeks) and has a disabled son (53yrs old), who was disabled in a car accident in approx 1989 , he can be left for an hour or so on his own but no longer.
Now the elderly man has become ill , i am doing extra to help him out but i go on holiday on sunday, (going away).
I phoned him today to see how he was and he said not well and is worried about whats going to happen to his son. I am going over to see him tomorrow and will see what the situation is, but he asked to me find out what help he can get as social serviices were not helpfull before, i am sure he should get some help or funding but he said that because of his private pension this is stopping any help, but this is HIS pension not the sons.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

The father could be getting Attendance Allowance if he has any care needs. That's not affected by income.

Of course his son should be getting help. If there isn't someone who can sort out SS who should be helping, at least get someone in to claim benefits for the son - council Welfare Advisors, DIAL or CAB.

If there's no time to organise things before you go away, contact a local care agency and get some support in for them. That will have to be paid for but it will be worth it in the short term.

Sorry do you mean the son having care needs? As he does (the dad) all his washing , ironing, cooking etc as he cannot do that.

My sister is going in next week to help, he does know her as i work for her , its her cleaning business.

Thanks for your help, i will go to welfare advisors when i come back.

Its such a shame as they are lovely lovely people and i will do all i can to help them.

The son needs a social services assessment so that he and his dad can get support.
In terms of finance, if the son needs help with cooking, cleaning etc... then he'll be entitled to claim Disability Living Allowance. If he's unable to work due to ill health then he can claim Employment Support Allowance.
Is it just the son who needs help (which his dad is currently providing) or does the dad also have problems which mean he needs care/mobility help?

Social Services may not have been any help previously but the son and his dad need to be assessed again, do they see any medical professionals (GP, nurse etc...)?
The sooner they get help the better as the father is not going to be able to take care of his son forever.

You do not get DLA for the help thats listed on this thread apart from cooking and that only gets low rate care at most, its for care and mobility ONLY.

He cannot work and has never done since his accident just not possible, does not have good balance etc as has a brain injury.
The dad needs help now as he is ill and to be honest after i rang and spoke to him today, unless he gets help soon dont think he is going to last much longer and he wont go to the doctors, i cant force him and the end of the day im just the cleaner although he kept telling me over and over im an angel im just really worried about him ...well both of them.
The son does go to headyway, the brain injuries centre.

I know it's awarded for care and mobility needs. The OP said that the son is unable to cook, wash or be left alone for more than an hour which sounds to me like he has care needs - hence the suggestion that DLA may be an option.

Suggest that Headway are made aware of the problems, someone there may be able to advocate for the son and get some help in place pdq.

It says washing, ironing and cooking etc.

Two of those arnt care needs, washing with ironing straight after isnt personal hygiene but endless googeling wont tell you that though which is all that you do.
