Should I Autoglym new car?

I'm in the process of buying a new car on PCP over 3 years. I have been offered autoglym for £349 to have the car protected.

What should I do? Is the cost worth getting it protected? Can I get this done for cheaper elsewhere?

Thanks.

What car is it and how much are you paying for it?

I can't say I'd bother with it myself. Just sounds like the dealer trying to pile extra things on top to me. :)

I presume you're going to throw it at the finance company after 3 years anyway, so why bother protecting it? As long as it's not on fire when it goes back it's all good :rotfl:
  • It costs the dealers about £35 at most for the materials, the rest is pure mark up, save your money and give it a wash and polish once a month yourself, it will probably look better after 3 years if you do that than get ripped off with these "wonder" treatments

Thanks guys... the car is a vw polo for about 14k...

You are right it doesn't make sense if I'm going to give back the car in 3 years.
I just wondered if there were options to do it not through the dealer cheaper and reduce the markup. I may have considered it if it were about £100.

You can usually buy the same chemicals from ebay for a small amount and do it yourself, or just buy a decent wax, just s good in the long run. (And if you use car washes, just save your money and dont bother with either option.)

Ahhhh another but less ridiculous case of trying to sell the "can't be bothered to wash my car" diamond+ceramic+unobtainium composite quadraspaz paint protection.

Clean and protect the car yourself.... You paid good money for it, you should at least bother to look after it! ;)

If you want it get the dealer to throw it into the deal for free however I prefer to do the car polishing myself as I know it gets done correctly also the Autoglym products they use you can get on a certain auction site for very little money.

Even if you can't be bothered to wash your own car, £349 buys a lot of £5 car washes at East Europeans R Us.

As a part time car detailer, I strongly advise against this. If you seriously want the car protecting, I'd contact a professional detailer that would be able to offer a much better service/product for less than VW have offered you it for.
