Computer Crashing

Options
hi all I seemed to have sorted my computer crashing until this week when it started again, have an Emachine and when I'm using it for a while it just stops and you cant get it to reboot,I have done a complete reinstall and it works again ,but now I have found that if it goes off again , I take the battery on the motherboard out for a few seconds and put it back in, the computer starts up ,I have had to do this 3 times in 4 days ,anyone know why a computer would stop and not want to restart until you take to battery out of the mother board and put it back after a few seconds

since it works if you take the battery out and putting it back in again for a while, why dont you buy a new battery, it could be dying on you

The CMOS battery runs the clock and keeps the BIOS settings.

Removing / replacing it suggests that the battery is dying.

Whilst you've got the back off check that everything is fully seated.

A quick look on Ebay and they seem to come in packs of 5 from about £2.50 incl P&P. Should be available from a market stall or shop near you .......
