The ceilings of the living room, hallway and dining room are all hung with decorations in red, gold and cream. There is a garland on top of the telly, all DH's CD collection has been moved to make way for ceramic ornaments. The computer desk/hideaway has been covered with christmas Lilliput Lane cottages. I also have a gold and cream St Nicholas stood there. A white and silver Santa is sat on my welsh dresser and a rather large red and gold santa is sat on the stereo speaker carrying a sack of pressies.

The tree will go up in the dining room in about 10 days time as there is no room for it elsewhere.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

  • Just can't wait to put my decs up :)

Now the children are older I can decorate how I like it to be (nooo tinsel lol) but when they were smaller it was like santas grotto had exploded in my home lol.

Now its all very natural in greens/reds and golds....

I hang ivy from the picture frames, pop small red or gold bows on each end.
Home made swags using cinnamon sticks, fabric hearts, chillis, peanuts etc
Stuffed old fashioned santas, angels, reindeer
    Wooden toys
    Hanging wooden angels and plaques
Gold twig star shapes with lights in (I take some photos/pictures down and use the hooks)
    Twig wreaths
I hang wooden tree decorations on the kitchen cupboard handles
I pop candles inside plant pots (the plain brown clay ones) (some are left natural and some sprayed gold) and then pop pine cones around the edge so there is no gap between the pot and the candle.
I make up baskets (brought from car boots) and make up pot porri
Hang a huge holly sprig on the front door tied with a huge red bow.
I still put a tree decoration which each of the children have made on the christmas tree (they're all in their late teens now)
I decorate the bannister with a green swag mixed in with gold stars and pine cones.
I brought a beautiful copper christmas tealight tree(about four foot tall) in the sales (should of been £49.99 gone down to £7.99 :)) it is beautiful. Each branch has a small spike on the end for a tealight and looks lovely when lit. I normally wrap ivy around too.
I have gold candle sticks/holders that I only bring out at christmas time.
I have a few angel willowtree figures that only come out at christmas too
I also have sprays from christmas trees on top of chest of drawers/cupboards and then just pop a few bundles of cinnamon sticks/orange slices/pine cones etc on top and its done....really easy and everyone comments on how good it looks.
We have a huge christmas tree is all higgly piggly which I love....with gingham wrapped lollies, gold chocolate, wooden toys, straw/raffia angels, red tinsel (oops I forgot I do use tinsel ;) ) gingerbread men, salt dough stars, red/green/gold baubles, pine cones, cinnamon stick bundled with gold ribbon.
I have gold drink coasters, gold rimmed glasses, gold fruit bowl etc that only comes out at christmas.

I WANNA DECORATE NOW :( ....but I've got to wait till the weekend :(
