I have a few candle and greenery/pine cone arrangements and some little Christmas ornaments around the living room - not too many, just tasteful. I also have bowls of Christmas smelling pot pourri dotted around. The mantelpiece is decorated with greenery, pine cones, and poinsettia flowers. I don't like it to look too cluttered, but when the children were young it was like santa's grotto gone berserk0

I do the tree, the mirror in the front sitting room (tinsel or beads) and a few expensive ornaments that I have collected. The hall mirror has beads over it and pics in the hall a wee bit o tinsel. The living room has nothing as yet.
My sister does loads of stuff in her living room and this year has even put a cuddly santa thing on the shelf in the downstairs loo!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

We have a large, light-up snowflake decoration that we attach to the side panel of our front door. As it's frosted glass, it looks lovely from the outside too. We have a singing doormat this year (plays Frostie the Snowman when you tread on it, the little ones love it lol!). I put white foam on the blanket box in the hallway - to look like snow - onto which we place an assortment of singing animals - a dog, a cat and several mice this year.
I also decorate the bannister up the stairs by wrapping tinsel around it and hanging decorations down at regular intervals (if they're not properly spaced out, I start to hyperventilate lol!)
Oh yes, I also use snow spray to make Christmas pictures on the patio doors, and on the window in the girls' room.0 -
I put tinsel up everywhere.
We have hanging garlands across the lounge ceiling with lots of hangin twirly things. I used to put fake snow on the windows but with all the condensation, it would be gone the next morning.
When my children were small they used to love making paper chains and loads of them that we would hang all over the house~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the kitchen we have a little potted fir with lights on,xmas teatowels, oven gloves, chopping board etc all bought in past Jan sales.
Candles galore, tealight holders, snowglobes(sale again). The kids nursery glittery stuff, homemade kiddies things, cuddly reindeer,santas,snowmen.....pot pourri in the loo, holly wreath on the front door, xmas cards hung everywhere....

We put a rope light around the stairs hand rail it looks fantastic and you dont have to use the normal lights as it is so bright it lights up the hallway and landing.
Lots of kids xmas pictures from years gone by and this year everywhere, we never throw them away, the kids love it when i put out hm decs from over 9 years ago!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
We have a big (real) tree in the front room, some mistletoe in the dining room and the cards blutak-ed to the doors. That's enough;) And we're the only house in our road without outdoor lights:D
Oh, and we also have a large(about 1 m wide by 75cm) advent calendar which stands on the hearth with a light behind it. I made it last year, the windows are made of layered tissue paper and look like stained glass. There are no chocolates and the pictures relate to the Nativity.
Just remembered something - last year we put lights all around the room we didn't have the tree in. They looked great provided the kids didn't mess with them and make them flash.0
