BT -Anyone had this fault?

I've had a string of problems with our BT broadband and phone line over the last year and at one point the CEO's office was involved - they weren't much help to be honest - anyway, matters were finally resolved.
Two weeks ago a new fault occurred and I'm wondering if anyone has had this particular fault happen to them.....
Phone line drops out every now and again and there is no dial tone - if called, it will ring a few times at the other end and then our phone will start to ring.
So, we sit there not knowing the phone has dropped out - others calling us get a ringing tone and think we are just not in to answer. Only when we need to make a call do we realise there is a problem as no amount of pressing the buttons get us a dial tone. We then get our mobile and phone our landline and it eventually connects. Weird.
Also, if we are using broadband and someone calls us then the broadband drops out.
We had an engineer around last week and he could not find any faults and said he would order a 'lift and shift' at the exchange. We then get a text from BT saying the fault has been repaired BUT it hasn't it's still going on and no-one seems to know what is causing it.
I'll obviously keep escalating the complaint (again) but am more interested here if anyone has had a similar problem with their line.
Thanks.

Have you tried with another phone handset?? Seem to vaguely remember a similar problem on the forum sometime ago, which was solved by a new handset.
Also if you have another ADSL filter try replacing that.0
