Only one but that's confidential information. ;)

If you read through the thread, some have admitted, confessed or otherwise indicated they have applied for them. Beyond that, NS&I have said they have had high volumes of applications so I think they are quite popular.

No you need the March figures as stated by chris1 viewpost.gif
    These were published in April.

He said for May 2011 would need to compare with May 2010- does that mean in reality you are comparing March 2011 with March 2010?

EDIT - just seen the other posts which explain it all - thanks

    Please can anyone help?

The phone number being constantly unavailable, I downloaded an application form to apply for Index-Lined Savings Certs to send in by post. But the address printed on the application form:

    Fixed Interest Savings Certificates
    National Savings and Investments
    Glasgow
    G58 1SB

is not the same as the address given in the application instructions:
    Savings Certificates,

    National Savings and Investments
    FREEPOST GW3276,
    Glasgow, G58 1BR.

    Which is the correct address?

Quite right. I make it as follows :-

    RPI Mar 2010: 220.7
    RPI Mar 2011: 232.5

    Interest = 5.35% (indexing) + 0.85% (fixed in yr1) = 6.20% tax free. :j

When you buy ILCs (index linked certificates) the starting RPI is based on the figure from the previous two months. So you need to compare RPI Mar 11 (published already) with RPI Mar 10.

I also purchased ILCs for a relative at the end of May 10, as this was a good month to buy them (guaranteed 1.8% + 11 months RPI inflation, see posts below). First year return on those previous ILCs will be 6.2% (RPI Mar 11/Mar 10 = 232.5/220.7 = 1.0535 = (5.35% + 0.85% bonus) = 6.2% for the 3yr 20th Issue. Obviously, this does not mean you will get the same return in the the next 12 months though. At the end of year 2 that depends on %RPI published in May 2012 which will be based on RPI Mar 12/Mar 11 + bonus (0.95% from memory).

...just a little warning re those applying using their Lloyds account....I had an automated call from them today,,,I rang back and they have declined my debit card payment to NS&I,,,I told them to lift the block and subsequently rang NS&I who said I should have got an e mail saying the application was rejected( and would not try to take the money again using the same application),,,,no e mail,,,,they said I should apply again,,,,now I am worried about double payment been taken

My wife had the same problem. When she finally got through to someone at NS&I, she was told that as she had applied for the certificates after 20.00 (on Friday), they are unable to confirm if payment has been received until Monday, as NS&I's banking systems cut off at 20.00. She was asked to check back with them on Monday to see what had happened to her application.

My guess is that you've downloaded the wrong application form (Fixed Interest Account rather that Index-linked Saving Certificates).

Indeed, but as others have pointed out, that is the return for ILSCs held between May 2010 and May 2011.

The annual return on ILSCs purchased in May 2011 will depend on the Retail Prices Index to be published in April 2012.
