My Nan and later my Mum had holiday caravans in Rhyl when we were kids and every holiday we had was there, but my Mum was glad to see the back of it, she made nothing out of trying to let it, it's a short season that you need to recoup your costs and as others have said the site owner has you over a barrel when you try and sell or whenever he wants to increase the rents.
The sites that have permanent all year residents that seem to be targeted at people retiring are just as bad. On the face of it, it may seem good to have a compact self-contained home on a nice country park but i don't think it's often a good deal.

A site near to mine as chalets on.

A new owner came on and TREBLED the rates - driving most out - and there was nothing the anyone could do.

Some people simply gave the chalets to the site, some tried to sell (but at drastically reduced prices) and a couple smashed up their chalets before leaving a shell behind.

Should be illegal - but with a government in power who trebled tuition fees in one year - i would not hold my breath!

It seems a better option if you want a caravan to have a holiday in would be to buy a tourer and hook it up behind your car.
The gypsies seem to get away with it.
