It would appear that we also need a system that prevents abusive posters going back in the middle of the night and editing their insults , replacing their bile with-Thank-you for your support

The way to do this, though not ideal, is to quote the comment. Any editing changes the original comment but not the quote of it.

I have PMed Kenshaz, to open up a line of communication , although I do seem hindered today by
    1. Slow BB line ( the wet does it!)
    2. A set of financial accounts that need my urgent attention.

    ---

need you to empty some pace in PM box !

Received your PM,the situation has eased already, your few words clarified the situation and made me more aware.

I will also be ignoring any stray posts from agitators ,who have no interest in a compromise they just want to perpetuate for their amusement,I recognize them .

I also have been running slow,Martin has placed an order for two top of the range servers, should be here before Christmas.

Thought it was a problem with the BB. Glad it's not just me that is finding it slow.
  • Seriously people (NOT aimed at anyone in particular). Grow up.

I have a 5 and a 2 year old and their argument this morning about advent calanders was less repetitive.

Yet I would ask this is done with a view to the fact that people are entitled to an 'anti-broker' attitude and that free expression on here of that view point is important.

All of us come across anti broker comments all the time - here and in real life. I had a young lady come to see me last week and brought her father with her. He had found out (as she was leaving the house) where she was going and insisted on coming along to look after her best interests. Some of the hardest work I have ever had to do as everything was questioned and I had bite my tongue at some of the opinions he expressed. She still took her mortgage through me - with her fathers blessing I may add (it was only what he would have suggested if she'd only asked him ;) ) and I got some satisfaction from a job well done. It's what we do. Not everyone likes us. Not everyone believes us.

If no-one questioned me, it would mean that I was always right, always explained things clearly and knew it all. Me being the smartest man on earth - that would be a hell of a lot more worrying. Having to rephrase yourself does not mean that you did not make a valid point.

Advisers cannot be held above others in terms of view

I am learning all the time and have to reassess my views on things everyday. Sometimes I learn from lay people - heaven forbid  If anyone can honestly say they know it all, I will give up tommorow and hand them all my clients.

As for accusations of touting - I don't suppose that will ever go away. How can that be legislated for? Payless is correct that the site has previously self policed and the most effective long term solution will be for that to continue. If another poster thinks your reply is touting, that is as much their problem as it is yours - does not mean that you don't need to consider rephrasing/clarifying your answer though. As long as the OP gets their answer - who cares?

People should be encouraged to report email/PM touting though. After all, that is the most pernicious form and one that may be undertaken by those other than visible members.

Everyone knows my opinions on sigs - standard template with appropriate warning - or none at all.

Cannot believe I took time away from sourcing Mr Holmes's remortgage for this though.:o

Your username is very apt ,it is like the cavalry arriving, the white/black charger of common sense.
