West Quay Premier Inn - Southampton

Looking to book this for about 5 days in July, can anyone tell me:

Where the best place to park is? Hotel is paid parking, quite expensive I think as it's in the West Quay shopping area car park, but will have to double check. Tried to call them to confirm last night, but phone was not answered.

Any good reasonably priced restaurants/ cafe's nearby?

Good tourist attractions?

Any other hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Travelling with a 2.5 year old, if that helps.

Thanks very much.

there is no free parking in easy walk ofthat as its city center
but some does become available on street overnight - past 8ish if you can get up and move your car before 8 the next morning

    local attractions for kiddies
New forest owl and otter sancturay - 15 mins drive west
longdown dairy farm - same ( almost opposite)
& ealing tide mill (free and also in same area)

red funnel ferries go from bottom of city to isle of wight -
not a huge fare for a car & 4 people
tescos vouchers here can get you into the zoo and needles park

to the east portsmouth historic dockyard ( 30 mins drive) can be accessed with tesco voucer things too

to the North Winchester and theres a quite interesting kids science center just outside the town - I forget the name of it but its quite good for younger kids - very hands on -

if you get good weather the beaches @ bournemouth are nice ( 40 mins)

and Beaulieau is on the way - but is expensive and not so good for little ones

there an ikea in west quay - so good for breakfasts - especially with kiddies
most reastraunts are chains in the city center - west quay has a large food court on the upper story - so its worth looking for things like pizza hut offers to use

there are also some lovely pubs in the new forest hope that helps

The food units in West Quay itself may not be open that late (although I'm really not sure as I'd personally never eat in there)- it is an indoor shopping centre so I'm guessing it'd shut when the shops close- but outside on the main retail park there is a TGI Fridays. McDonalds and just over the road in Leisure world is ASK, Frankie and Benny's and a few pub type places (and cinema).

If you head towards Ocean Village there are some nicer places to eat by the water, or head into town for Wetherspoons/Yates/Slug type places

Oxford Street has Prezzo/Pizza express and various other nicer non chain places to eat.

Southampton isn't that big so everything is pretty much walkable.

Presumably you already know about Peppa Pig world at Paultons ;-)

Marwell Zoo is quite a good day out too and not far.

Portsmouth has Spinnaker Tower and Historic boat yard- depends what little one is into really.

Watercress line not too far if trains are a popular hobby with him/her

Thank you very much Manda and Bill. Great info! Will make a list to take.

Oh, if anyone is reading this later and wondering how much parking is at the Premier Inn, it is £5 per day in the multi storey. There is a discount for hotel guests. My husband got through on the phone yesterday to ask.
