BT Openreach - line fault

Hello,
I have been reading back through these pages to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problems my elderly parents are having with their phone line.
In short the line is faulty and they know where the fault is, its in the box nailed to the pole in our lane, its not the first time this has been like it, in February it was down for 10 days.....but do you know they are getting very frustrated trying to contact someone.
The broadband works, they can't call out, but people call them and they get the tone of ringing but the old-folks phone is dead.
Anyway its in to its 5th day now and mother (73) has just again walked to a phone box half a mile away to dial 151 only to be told they can't deal with the matter now, please call again.
They tried another tack through BT sales dept. and apparently got charged a total of 7 pounds for the time and nothing.
Have been put through to the Indian helpdesk (what a joke that is!!!) to some idiot who said it was the internet connection in the house that was faulty.....I ask you, what has this world come to?!!??
Can some please please help with some suggestions of how/who to get hold of.......there's two pensioners living on their own in a house in the country with no chance of calling anyone.

OK, so finally they have been to sort it......6 days after the failure.
Presumably ther will be a goodwill gesture to make up for this.....afterall if the bill is late by 6 days I'm sure they'd cut it off.0
