my netbook screen appears stretched

hi

i plugged my netbook into my TV Monitor to watch football, since then my netbook screen appears to be stretched. it seems like the netbook screen hasnt reverted back to the original resolution, it still thinks its plugged into a monitor, does anyone have the answer to get it back as its doing my head in!

its an Acer Aspire Netbook

    Right click on a blank part of the Desktop screen
    Click Properties
    Click Settings
    Screen Resolution should be 1024 x 600
