Its clear that my pc is infected, as a virus is picking up contacts from my address book and firing junk email to friends, family and business associates.
Is there anything I can do to stop this apart from reinstalling the o/s. Its very annoying and I have started to delete entries in my address book, will this contain the virus.
I have macafee installed but it has not picked anything up on the last scan.

If you are using Hotmail or similar web based service, it is likely your account has been hacked, change the password as you probably used an easy to guess password or have been phished.
If your mail is done through your Internet provider address, and use a program on your computer, then you may have malware.
Download and run Malwarebytes and see what it finds.0
