EON Central heating Care

Hi all could I have some thoughts on this please.
I have today called up EON in order to cancel my central heating care package. It currently costs us £12.50 per month.
When I spoke to the so called 'customer service' operator he immediatley started quoting T&Cs to me and saying that as the policy renewed in April automatically I am now unable to cancel this until April next year. Now we took out this poliy in 2009 and I still have the policy guide and copy of the T&Cs but in which it states that 'you may cancel this contract at any time.
As this is effectivley an insurance product I am astounded that I can't cancel the product. I was expecting to maybe pay an additional month's premium but to be told that I have to pay 11 months worth of premiums in order to cancel this seems ridiculous.
Could anyone give me any advice

I had a quick look through their current T&C's and it does appear to be a 12 month contract that auto renews every year for another 12 months unless you tell them you want to cancel prior to the renwal date (see section 6.2)

If you got documentation that says otherwise it might be worth following their complaints process and sending a written complaint

Did you receive any documentation when the policy renewed last year as you may have been sent updated T&C's0
