Question: Erm can you summarise Elizabeth West's book for me? I will see if i want to buy it.
My fave book is Gulliver's Travels. Favourite author though is John Steinbeck.
Elizabeth and Alan decide to opt out of the "rat race" and move to the hills in North Wales. They make the move in 1965 so it's a different world to now.
"Conveys the joy in the countryside, in wild things and in coping for oneself" quote from the cover.
I love it and it's from where my dream first came to have a name hence my username on here.0 -

Enjoy the most - time on my own with a good book, a lot of tea and possibly biscuits while cuddling the Hovel dog if I'm doing it at home.
Being with people is, well, hard quite a lot of the time.0 -
Good night Beanie. bless you, wrap up warm. Well done to DS for trying.
It sounds interesting. I love where i live except I am spending a fortune in rebuilding it.
Did you watch the Flame Trees of Thika or Flambards when you were younger. You remind me of the heroines in that. I didn't read much of your diary. I got a bit emotional and then i got worse yesterday. I can't go back to any other threads other than those where i feel safe for a few days just to be sure.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Well since Steinbeck is famous for 'Of Mice and Men' then maybe we can take a lesson from the best laid plans and all of that...Things don't always work out how we want them to, and so we make new plans and move on..that is the good thing about human nature.:D
Now about that patio..should i go for an extension, or just go deeper? Could get more bodies in that way:dance::whistle::whistle::rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

Me too. But if you find people you get on with it is easy. Have you been to any MSE meets? Everyone is like you, pensive but we have had some lovely meets and you have no secrets from them so you are safe and happy. I have met Beanie, 3dogs(susan), Aesop, Andy, Steve, Puddings, George UK (who may not be friends with me but i think so he is always there) I have spoken to Bob and Froogs on the phone. After yesterday bob is still my friend i am so glad. One day I will meet her.
It gets better HL.
I can't call you by your full name it sounds sad. You are happy petal.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

HL this is bob. She is wonderful and kind. I dont know why she is so nice to me but i am grateful honest. She throws turnips when she is stressed and keeps threatening to put her OH under the patio. But she loves him really, as she is so nice.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220
