I don't think you can get the form much earlier than 25 weeks, probably as the others say from the 20wk scan onwards.

As for your blood tests, these tests get sent back to the requesting medic, whether that be GP or hospital consultant and they will have been checked. If you haven't heard I would assume all is ok. If there was anything to cause concern that required urgent attention the labs would also ring and inform the requesting medic.

I wouldn't worry about being off over the summer. Your school is bound to have a maternity policy and they will advise you where to send your form if your school shuts completly for summer.

As you are a teacher... and I assume you have been working for more than a few months you will be entitled to contractual maternity leave payments in addition to stat maternity pay. You can ask to have your payments spread equally over the 9 months so you get the same wage each month rather than having lots for a few months then very little, sadly if you take the full year you get nothing for the last 3 months other than to spend lots of quality time with your new baby. (Most public sector employers will not spread the payments over 12 months now, you have to take it over 9 months)
On a personal note if as a family you can manage with no pay for the last 3 months I would take it, you won't get another opportunity to have this time again. I wish this was on offer when I had mine!

they wouldnt give me my form til 26 week appointment. i was the size of a house at that stage so work didnt really need the form

i saw 'my' midwife once, at the 8 week booking appointment, and after that i saw a different one every time

ignore the bloods lol. they just love stabbing pregnant women. give the surgery a call but they'll contact you if theres a problem normally

Thank you all so much for replies. They have all helped alot! It was my gp who was looking for the results of my blood count. I was in with him on Monday with headaches and he thought I might be low in Iron. When he checked my file on the comp there was no copy of the results told to me in the hospital. It was for this that he had told me to contact the midwife just to check that my blood count had turned out fine.
Hadn't really thought about the maternity leave payments spread out over the 9 months. Think I like the sound of that better. I will mention it to my principal but I'm sure I will have to sort it out with the department myself.
