Childcare vouchers admin fee

Our son goes to nursery and we pay with childcare vouchers. My wife's employer recently changed childcare voucher companies and the nursery now want to charge us a £20 administration fee for this. We paid a £40 admin fee when he joined (for my vouchers and her vouchers - £20 each) and I am resenting to have to pay another £20 for what I believe to be little or no administration. Anybody else experience this? The first nursery he went to didn't charge any fees for using childcare vouchers and his holiday club doesn't either so are they trying it on?

I've changed voucher schemes twice and I've never had to pay any sort of admin fee. I wasn't aware that it cost nurseries any money to accept vouchers, but I'm willing to stand corrected...
  • it doesn't cost the nursery anything more to accept them, but they may have to register with the new supplier and so are charging for their time to do this

You could ask the supplier of the vouchers to provide paper vouchers and pay with them?
  • As a childminder who is registered with various childcare voucher schemes I can state that it takes no longer than 5 mins max to register with a new one, quick fill in of basic details plus a copy of Ofsted registration certificate and thats it posted off to the company, plus it only ever has to be done the once for a new company, not once for each new parent.....hth x
