They've been quite canny though, haven't they? They haven't said "because you have Parkinsons" or "because you're a bit shaky", they've said they've withdrawn their nominations because of "your present state of health".

Now, none of us are in a position to know anything about the OP's dad's state of health, or whether he appears well. It may be that he really doesn't appear to be at all well, or appears to have recently got worse (and I'm not talking about any obvious symptoms of Parkinsons, just generally).

Don't get me wrong, this seems completely the wrong way of going about things, but I'm not sure how much the DDA will help, because of the way they have worded it.

Surely that depends on whether he has actually been ill? Otherwise what 'state of health' could they be referring to?

Well, that's what we don't know, isn't it? If, apart from the Parkinsons, Dad has been pretty fit, then that's what they must be talking about. If, on the other hand, he's had a rough winter with colds / flu / norovirus / winter bleurgh, then it might be a genuine concern.

I'm not attempting to defend their actions, btw!

LOL, never thought you were, but I admit I did assume that the OP and his dad had considered the possibility that they might be referring to other health issues and decided it could only have referred to the Parkinson's.
