Yellow Pages

Unless I got this wrong, you signed off a proof of the advert which had a mistake in it?
If that's correct, then you have little comeback on Yellow Pages. The reason they send a proof is for you to check it. I would have thought, in these circumstances, that their offer of a 20% reduction in their fee was reasonable.
I would also say that your letter is well over the top in terms of threatening legal action etc etc. By this I mean, at this stage you should perhaps be talking to them and negotiating not threatening.
If it was me, I would accept that YP have made a mistake, but one that you too should have spotted, and would accept their offer.
I don't think you can get away from the fact that you should have checked that the proof copy was ok.
If the mistake by YP was after you had agreed the final proof then it would be different and they would be liable.0 -
I agree with the last two posters.
If you can show that the signed-off 'proof' is different to what is published, you're in a better position. If they sent you a further proof after you requested an amendment, and you didn't check that, you haven't a leg to stand on.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Anybody who has a dispute with Yellow Pages or any of their subsidaries should not bother complaining to customer services since CS will simply say anything to cover themselves. Instead I suggest the following remedy Google search "Yell CEO" to discover who the current CEO is. Currently it is Mike Pollock, if by the time you read this it has changed use the same email structure to email the current ceo.0

Yell are taking me to court because I cancelled my direct debit to them when they didn't provide the service that had been agreed on. They say that even though they didn't provide the full service, I am still due to pay the year's charges just because they did provide the Medium weight advert component of the service.0
