If I ask my bank for loan papers will they still have them and give me them?

I took out a loan in 2004 it's all paid now but wondered if Im due money back I don't have the papers any more will the bank still have them and would they give me them if I requested them?

Maybe, maybe not. The bank can destroy them when they like. Some only hold for 6 years after. Some indefinitely.
