Excel!! I've found other 'systems' absolutely infuriating as you have to bend yourself to their workflows, not the other way round.
But you might also like to look at http://www.opentaps.org/ or http://www.openbravo.com/ or http://www.openerp.com/ for open source ERP's, one may be helpful.0
