Pet Insurance extortion!

I agree that More Than really are taking the p when it comes to pet insurance. I insure my dog with them and price is getting silly. However, over the years they have paid out each claim and I have probably had my money back and then some.
Every month I look at my bank statement and think of cancelling but I sure am glad I didn't. On Friday, our dog was at the beach - she loves to swim (Labrador). On Friday evening we discovered an extremely nasty gash on her chest near her 'armpit' Took her to vet on Sat am, she was there for ages, had to be sedated, the wound cleaned and trimmed, then layers of internal stitching followed by staples to hold wound closed. Then an injection to bring her round. Also pain killing and antibiotic injections and meds to take home. I dread to think what the bill will be but thankfully we only had to pay our excess.0 -

I called thinking it was an error and was told it was correct, that this increase is due to an increase in vet fees and medications, and because of our claims. We have not claimed anything for over a year (before that, we did, when our cat had an accident) so their argument is rubbish! And are they charging an extra £15 a month from each customer to cover for the 'increase in vet fees and medications?'. That's well profitable for them! How can they do this? Our cat is old, now 19, but they never mentioned age as the issue - they used the age excuse last year when they put the price up from £29 to £36!! But now, up to £51?!! Isn't there some sort of legal threshold to curb these Insurance companies extortionate prices?? And, of course, because my cat is indeed old, I won't be able to get a new insurer now, will I? So, I am stuck with greedy More Than?
It's not 'extortion' at all. Facts are 1) Claims are going up. Maybe not by you but generally.
2) Your cat is old. Thus a much, much higher risk of claiming (thus a higher cost to the insurance)
3) Companies will put prices up on anything, not just insurance.
4) 'Legal threshold' - of what? Of how much per month? You realise then that if this happened you probably wouldn't get insured.
5) 'Greedy More Than' - the company exists to make a profit. They're not a charity. Same with any company.0 -
my renewal for my 6year old dog went up by £11 this year when I rang they told me that technology had improved and vets were able to treat so many ailments conditions and that my renewal was workes out taking into account vets bills in the area? I asked what they could do they offered me a dog hamper or a night away in a hotel for free, but no reduction, will shop around next year.0
