I have an email account set up in Windows Mail on my Vista computer. I hadn't used it in a long time so I wanted to remove the account but I signed into the account using webmail and noticed one of my old contacts is sending out spam from her address. It went into my inbox but I deleted without opening and then created a filter to block messages coming through from that address. What I'm worried about is will those spam messages be downloaded to my computer next time I open up windows mail? I use my computer for shopping online and I'm worried about safety.
I also changed my password using the webmail, so will that stop windows mail from downloading anything the next time I open it? I just want to open it to delete all my messages and then remove the account from windows mail and only access it through web mail and my mobile from now on.

If you set up a filter to block those e-mails (using either your mail client or by logging in through the web based GUI), then you won't get any more e-mails from that person full stop.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

Thanks. I set the filter up using the web based mail, so hopefully it's worked. I wasn't sure if it was possible to block them using Windows Mail. I've only used web mail before this.
I forgot to ask, if I delete all my emails in Windows Mail, will all the emails still stay in the web based account? There are some I'd like to keep but I'm not sure how it works.0 -

If I delete Hotmail emails from Windows Live Mail it also deletes them from the web-based account. However, if I delete GMail emails from Live Mail they still show at GMail.
It probably depends on the settings at the email client but I wouldn't delete anything which you want to keep.

Thanks. So would it be best to just remove the account from Windows Mail without deleting any emails then? All I want to do is remove the emails from my computer but still be able to access the ones I need to keep through web mail instead. I'm not sure how these things work.0
