Coal fire VS Storage heaters?
Moving into a council property which at present has a coal fire with a back boiler and radiators. We have heard that it may be possible to get storage heaters installed. Was told about some kind of scheme.
Anyway, with our only current heating of a coal fire what do you guys suggest? Look into getting storage heaters fitted or look for some other form of heating.
There is no gas in the villiage so no option there.
Just looking for some help and general advice

I would avoid night storage heaters like the plague. chec aout.when we lived in a village the past 5 years, we arely had to buy coal....we got a lot of free wood from neighbours buying full loads that over flowed their staorage capacity, and only bought the odd bag of coal to extened the fire or when no free wood was on hand. We also had gas central heating, but like most of our neighbours, rarely used it as the house was very warm fromthe fire, and a if banked properly, a breeze to light the next morning. A good duvet on all night and dressing for the weather helped immensely.
We did use an oil filled rad instead of the central heating on the very coldest of nights and evenings, these were MUCH cheaper to run than teh old night storage heaters we had a t a previous address on Economy 7. We put them on a low setting and closed all teh room doors to hold the heat in.
