Coupons on eBay- worth buying or not?

I've found some coupons on ebay with a total value of £4.15. They are for newspapers but as the seller states can be used at supermarkets without buying the item. They are being sold for £0.99 and 50p postage per sheet of coupons but if you buy more than one sheet the postage does not increase. It sounds good and I'm thinking of buying maybe 10 sheets of coupons as this would cost £10.40 for £41.50 worth of coupons. The only problem is that the coupons state that student ID may be requested. As I'm not a student this might be a problem. Does anyone know how likely it is that supermarkets such as ASDA and Tesco will ask for this? Will they really care? It sounds good but I don't want to waste money if I can't use them. If this doesn't make sense here is the link:

If anyone can advise I'd be grateful!

That looks like a good offer! I just bought 3!
Choose a young lad on the tills, i have heard that works. As i am a student, it shouldn't be a problem for me anyway!
Good Luck!0 -
I do wonder how the seller legitimately came to own forty sheets of these though. That's always a concern with coupons/vouchers on eBay.Can I help?0

I bought some of these a good few months ago on ebay, and they are a useful addition to my coupon-stash!
The ones I have are exactly the same and they do scan at Tesco & Asda. I tend to only use one among other coupons, when I have bought any newspaper, so that if the cashier asks if I bought it I just point at my (folded & bagged) newspaper and say yes.
I have NEVER been asked for student ID (I think you would if you used them at a newsagents, but not likely to be an issue in a supermarket). If I was asked I would say I am attending a computer course (I did, 2 years ago, lol)!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

there were a couple of newspapers a while ago with online student vouchers deals where you could print them off....
and sometimes vouchers get given out at the freshers fairs when you start uni....lots of freebies....0 -
I looked at these the other day ... I have bought a few coupons on ebay ... mainly as Coupon-mad says to 'fill out' my stash ... deary me I sound like a drugs dealer ... anyways ... I just bought 3 too! ... sorry! .... I had not realised that the additional postage was free ... so it does make it a good deal ... £12.45 in coupons for £3.47 ... and they are for 'Any' daya paper ... some of the newspaper coupons are dated and that means you have to throw the ones away that you miss! ... throw away a coupon! ... Coupon-mad would have a fit!
My advice would be look for 'badly' listed items as they should go cheaper ... read feedback carefully ... do not pay more than 30% of the face value at the very most ... there are loads on there so bide your time and hold on to your cash until you get a cheap one! ... Also try to sell on Ebay so you fund the purchases out of your sales ... rather than your budget! ... they seem nearly free then!
Hope this Helps ... and Thanks for the Tip ... Ooop!LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -
I think i have been quite lucky with a couple of coupon bundles on ebay.
Heres my latest one - £70 for a fiver! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130053805762&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=003
And £24 of them for 3 quid! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170046666766
These kind of bundles are really worth looking out for!0 -
The £70 for a fiver has lots of Quick Read vouchers and all supermarkets have clamped down on there coupons.
The £3.00 bundle was good though.Debt Free Wannabee - Updated 13/08/2007
