£700 for a wired burgular alarm - is this good value?

Hi,
I've just been quoted £700 for a wired burgular alarm to be supplied and fitted in a 3 bedroom semi-detatched house. It also includes a voice dialler.
There are PIR sensors in all rooms on the ground floor and 1 on the landing. There's also window detectors in the back room and kitchen.
The maintenace contract is £45 per annum.
Is this good value for money?

I have no experience of alarm prices but it sounds reasonable to me.0

I had slightly higher quotes for a larger property, so it does seem fair. However, I ended up going the DIY route, and installed a wireless alarm. Might be worth considering, depending on your circumstances.0

Get three quotes before agreeing to anything.0

Agree with #4 get a few quotes before deciding, also check that they are NACOSS approved so you will get insurance discount. £700 not a bad price though dependant upon what the equipment is.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Were just getting one fitted today..

Sounds a tad steep to me but not too excessive I suppose.
I had a wired alarm installed, PIR's downstairs and on landing (special PIR for conservatory). Door connector thingy. Was around £450. 3 bed semi.
I initially wanted window alarms as well as PIRs and they talked me out of it. They said if someone got in through the window and got into the room, the room PIR would catch the movement and the alarm would sound so there was really no need for the window sensors. I.e. the time between a window sensor going off and a room PIR going off is seconds.....so why bother with the window sensors at all?
Made sense to me and saved me money. Very MSE!0 -
Similar to what we paid about 4/5 years ago for a 4 bed house with PIRs and door sensors. Rings various phones if goes off etc0

The alarm is made by Texecom. Can't say I've heard of them before, but should be better than the likes of Yale which I've heard aren't that great.0

Some company called HSSecurity Group which i cant seem to find apart from a website address & an mobile number.
I always look for a landline number, and check the company our etc.0 -
I paid £400 for a Texecom wired alarm this January. I have PIR's in the downstairs hall, kitchen, dining room, living room and upstairs landing of a 3 bed semi.
Luckily my friends knew an electrician who fits them as a side line.0
