Who owns a particular property

Options
Hi,
I am really finding it hard to get a foot on the property ladder, and have watched some home improvement shows and stuff where they purchase run down properties and spend like 20K on them to modernise them, then they are great cheap houses to live in or sell. I think I would enjoy the challenge of this and know a great little end terrace house that has been standing empty for ages now (no curtains up, smashed windows, really does look the worse for wear) How can I find out who owns it and maybe even see if its on the market already ? I have searched google with the address but it returns nothing. Your help is gratefully appreciated.

for £4 will let you download the property title and plan. This will tell you who owns it but not where they currently are!

You could use something like 192.com to search for the whereabouts of the owners.

Anyone got any better or cheaper suggestions?

    Thanks
    Z

Have you thought about asking a few neighbours. Ask them if they know how to contact the owners or relatives of the previous owner.
But don't give too much away as to what you want the house for. You might put ideas in someone elses head. Know what i mean ??????.
Good on you for having the idea in the first place, and getting of your back side and doing some thing about it.
    WELL DONE YOU. GOOD LUCK!!!!
  • Thanks for your replys :) most welcome. I have tried to look around the net and have found that on http://www.nethouseprices.com/ (which tries to install a trojan :( ) says it was sold in June 2004 for 70K  I dont know if its fallen into its sorry state since then, but if its still around 70K or higher its sadly out of my range.

I don't expect it would have fallen into a bad state of repair since then. Perhaps someone else has already bought it to renovate it!

The site was useful for me as it enabled me to confirm when my mum's house was sold. The site is of no use if the house you are looking for has not been sold in about the last five years. It also does not give the name and adress of the owner - which can be obtained from the Land Registry.
