Question about statements & funding please - Voluntary Aided School

This is really interesting, I had considered flexi schooling but did not know if it was possible. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
How do I go about doing this? Do I just speak to the school or the LEA?0 -
I had asked about a reduced timetable, which they refused.
I was then told about flexi-schooling by my local Parent Partnership and at the next meeting with the SENCO I was going to propose it - turned out the SENCO had already done her homework and presented me with the idea before I could suggest it myself.
I think the school has an obligation to consider your request as its your right to decide how your child is educated. I dont know if they have to agree or not though. In my sons case, it was considered an intervention rather than an option (and the school insist its not a long term option for him - not if I have my way as long as he's in mainstream though!) but hey - either way it worked fine for me, I just need him out of mainstream!
I would approach the school first and if they refuse, contact the LEA or the Homeschooling or even the SEN person at the council or even the local PRU (who I'm told are quite familiar with this type of arrangement) and not forgetting Parent Partnership to see what they say. From what I know, flexi-schooling is rather unheard of (unless you're in the know) and I am only one of 2 parents in my borough who do it, so dont be surprised if the school say they havent heard of it or need to know more first as the SENCO at DS's school hadnt heard of it before doing some desperate research either.0
