New house, no phone line.

Hi,
We will shorlty be moving into our new house, but as of yet we don't have a landline, we need broadband too. Not TV though.

Do I need to contact BT in the first instance to get a new number or can I just go straight to a different provider?

Anyone recomend a good phone line and broadband package, not heavy use on either really.

Cheers.

  • Hi,

I'm no expert, but pretty sure you need either a BT line or Cable connection (such as Virgin) before you can use any other supplier. I can't recommend any particular suppliers, however, we are with O2 because as mobile customers of theirs we get discounted calls and broadband :)

    Good luck with the move!

The previous poster is incorrect, you can go straight to another supplier who will fit a phone line. I checked 3 months ago, o2 charged around £90, Talk-Talk £36 (special offer), and Sky £10 to fit a new line, but these prices may be incorrect now.
