Ceiling Light fitting
Anew
Hi there, quick enquiry for anyone who may be able to help -
We have been given a nice new light fitting - however the wiring does not seem to match. I have changed other light fittings before - with several red and black wires without problem. However this new fitting seems to have the wires of a standard plug. Although we got the fitting no instructions were given. The current light fitting has the red/black wires at present.
Does this mean it is incompatible? I would rather DIY it - but am not against getting a sparky in if needs be, but was just checking if its useless before doing that.
Thanks for any advice.

You can place the cables from the ceiling rose into a connector block then run a flex to the fitting to give your Live Earth and Neutral0

If you are querying compatibility of something as simple as a light fitting then it would appear that you are not electrically competent to wire in the new fitting. However, diable is giving good advice. Think about what you are trying to achieve and if you can't see the solution for yourself then get someone in. It really is a simple task.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
