what's the cheapest drink at the pub?

Hiya with all these xmas meals out at pubs I find the drink are more expensive than the meal! Any idea which is the cheapest drink to order in a pub? There is supposed to be a list of prices but it is always tucked away behind the bar which annoys me.

Prices seem to vary do much so any tips would be good.

I do it after i had a few drinks :)
  • If you want booze, I tend to go for a vodka, lime and soda water - cheaper than getting a little bottle of tonic/other mixer and it's quite light and easy to drink. Check the price of a single vodka first, though.
  • what works out cheapest is generally a pint of lager/beer, if you can stomach it! in the pub i work in it's £2.60 for a pint and £2.50 for a measure of spirit and a splash of coke so you get far more liquid for your money on beer.

wine is extremely overpriced in pubs, as are soft drinks such as j2o...

lime & soda is always a good cheap standby! If you're feeling adventurous you could ring the changes with blackcurrant & soda or orange & soda.

Great answers anyone know why pubs don't have to put up prices where you can see them?

I thought by law they had to have a tariff board up with the prices, % ABV alcohol and the size of their single/double measures.
All the pubs I go to regularly have one.

I have a good pub where free water is no problem, with ice as well if you want. It comes through the Coke fountain so I think it is filtered too - once I was offered it carbonated if I wanted!.
  • In the places around here it would probably work out cheaper to take your own mixer than spirit >.>
