Help Doing Links in Posts/Threads

I didn't know where would be best to place this to make it available to as many people as possible, to help them etc.
So you keep on wanting to help create links in your posts/threads but haven't had the time to find out how, hopefully this short guide will help you along the way.
There are 2 main methods of doing this and it depends on what you find easiest
Method 1:
When you create a thread or create a post you have the option of 'go advanced' this will take you to a different screen where you can type quickly and easily, and add all the lively icons with ease.
To add a link all you need to do is press the icon that looks like the earth with a bit of chain infront. It is at the top of the writing area - the 11th icon from the left (on the second row).
If you click on that icon you it will guide you through putting the link in your text, make sure you have clicked where you want the link to appear before you click on the icon (the earth).
It will ask you to enter the 'URL' for the website and this can be found at the top of your web broawser (internet explorer, firefox etc).
What you want to do is copy and paste all the writing that you see at the top i.e. in my case it would be http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en ; paste that in the box where it asks for the URL and make sure that at the start of the link you only have one http://
This will create a link like this one here http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en
however if you want the text that is shown to the user to be different to the actual link you can easily change it. Instead of clicking where you want the link, select the word that you want to be linked.
For example if you wanted to show the following:
Click on this link here
You would select the word 'here' that you typed, then click on the icon and it makes it all look a bit neater
2nd Method:
This allows you to type in the URL whether you are in advanced, or quick reply mode. What you want to do is type the following
the the text you want to show[/URL}
The last bracket should be a square bracket ] but i have put the curly bracket to show you what you need to type.
Using the example of google, you would need to type:
Google[/URL}
and it would look like this:
Google
You can do this for wherever you want to put the link where-ever in your text.
Just try a few times (by posting below?) and see how it goes
Hope that helps a few of you people
Have an enjoyable festive season
Ian
