Energy Efficient light bulbs?

Hi everyone,

Does anybody have any recomendations for where to get some energy efficient light bulbs and the best ones to buy, Ideally I need two of the candle shaped ones for lamps and about 6-7 of the standard ceiling bulbs, looking for ones that light up quickly and are bright, any ideas?

Thanks

Aldi had some excellent ones at 99p, but obviously there's no guarantee that they'll have them again, or when. However, it might be worth asking if you have one nearby - I find our local shops tend to keep stuff in the storeroom after the offer's officially over and bring it out now and again.

Otherwise, Morrison's supposedly do them for 99p. If you want bright, buy the 20W - the 11W you usually get are equivalent to a dim 60W.

I posted about Morrisons bulbs a while ago and you are correct, they are 99p each for the 60W sand 100W equivalent.

They are made by Philips so a good brand to buy :D

Also, I found the higher rated ones better as I to found the 60w(11w) a little on the dim side.

https://www.johnlewis.com have the Philips ones on their website in 11W and 18w (60w and 100w equiavalent) for 99p each, bayonet and screw fitting.

Three out of four are out of stock right now, but they go in and out of stock every couple of days - click the link on the product and get an email when they come in to stock.

Delivery is free at the moment, so you could order 1 at 99p and get it delivered to your door!

Now that's Moneysaving and Energysaving in more ways than one!

Just remember you cant dim Compacts so it will be all or nothing, Another great tip is that normal bulbs are there brightest 2 seconds before they pop, Compacts will be dim when they are about to pop so its a good idea to a spare 1 or 2 for when they go, you will have plenty worning but with them lasting so long there likely to catch you out when they do go.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

    Opps forgot to mention,

if you have uplight lampshaded try get the pig tail shaped bulbs or you will have difficulty getting the bulbs in, Couhncil offices also regularly hand long compacts out free but there only 11 W
